She Drew the Gun. Louisa Roach has it going on.

Louisa Roach fronts the band She Drew the Gun with unmatched maturity and poise. I haven't seen such a composed front woman in a while. Roach describes her style as “Northern Queer Trash”. Her influences range from Prince to Brit Pop to the Beatles to Patsy Cline.  She and her band mates hail from Liverpool. Needless John Lennon is one of her inspirations. She cites the naked inhibited vocal qualities are indicative of male singers. She believes women aren't as inhibited when it comes to singing but it doesn’t' come as naturally for men whose machoismo can masks their fragility Learning to play guitar at an early age by utilizing an Easy to play Chords by Oasis. Oasis songs became her go to sing along with her friends. "We knew all the words". Impressed by Noel Gallaher's lyrical style she began to craft her own poems and songs. Putting out "Memories of the Future" in 2016 was a big deal for She Drew the Gun. They wound up winning the impressive Glastonbury Emerging Talent Contest that year. The song "Poem" a not so thinly veiled protest song wound up on a BBC best of list as THE song of 2016. The song has moved djs and listeners alike speaking about the distinction between rich and poor in a big city. How city officials and the upper class are looking to hide the homeless to bring in tourists that are fueling the city. She sings in her melodic voice while wielding her guitar. She then breaks into spoken word. She claims
"Spoken words she claims are the way to make an audience sit up and listen and not look away. She gets fierce "It's called wealth creation, yeah, it's more efficient you see
Well sorry I forgot the free market would set us free/ I forgot to only think about I am and me  " The lyrics are not easy to stomach but her melodic voice makes this a must hear song.

She cites feminist activist poet Kate Tempest as someone who she wanted to imitate.
A mother of a 12son, Roach sports a pastel colored pixie cut. Her blue eyes are sharp and piercing. She handles herself with the utmost composure when she leads her band flanked by a male bass player and 2 ladies playing keys and drums. The drummer especially kiks on the song "Sweet Harmony'.  "Let's come together right now/Sweet Harmony".  The use of  a sax solo brings this on home as she raps her thoughts. "Possession is an ambition/ Reassess the vision". The videos aren’t fluff but important productions. The band plays tight and controlled. The psychedelic guitars mesh nicely with the uplifting synth lines.Their sound is quite sophisticated for such a young band. They only began rocking in 2015.

Their sophomore album “Revolution of the Mind” drops in early October. I will definitely be reviewing it for you kids. The first single “Resister” features a wildly halucengenic video which features inequalities, peace signs and fists for solidarity. Make love not war.
She Drew the Gun is getting a lot of attention in the UK. Hoping the make the trip over the pond to grace us with their sound and style. Just hoping the pc kids don’t protest the name of the band.

Allow me to Introduce The Inclines

The Inclines hail from Kitchener, Ontario. The dynamic four-piece band release songs that ricochet with emotive prowess. They sing of relationships gone South as well as found love. Their style is a brash mix of alternative self-confessional emo indie rock.  They released a few ripping singles earlier in the Spring.  Here is your introduction to the band. It doesn’t have any special meaning we just like how ambiguous it sounds.” Tell me about your start as a band  – “ We’ve been a band since 2016. Our  influences  range across many genres such as punk, and R&B. We write our lyrics as a group. Our songwriting process is very chaotic because we always have many songs on the go.” What is your favorite music to listen to? ...
