The Inclines hail from Kitchener, Ontario. The dynamic four-piece band
release songs that ricochet with emotive prowess. They sing of relationships
gone South as well as found love. Their style is a brash mix of alternative
self-confessional emo indie rock. They released a few ripping singles
earlier in the Spring. Here is your introduction to the band.
Sam Belanger - Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar
Jake Robinson - Bass Guitar/Vocals
Brad McNeil - Drums/Vocals

What's up with the band name? – “Our singer came up with it about 3 years ago. It doesn’t have any special meaning we just like how ambiguous it sounds.”
Tell me about your start as a band – “ We’ve been a band since 2016. Our influences range across many genres such as punk, and R&B. We write our lyrics as a group. Our songwriting process is very chaotic because we always have many songs on the go.”
What is your favorite music to listen to? - “We are very inspired by Arkells, Bring Me the Horizon, the Wombats and Biffy Clyro”
What’ song resonates most with your fans – “Disappear”
I will get them one up soon. For now enjoy “Hurricane” and “Free Seat”
The freedom of an open road is at the heart of "Free Seat." This track has a Fall out Boy feel but unlike Patrick of the Fall you can actually understand what Sam is singing. "Free Seat" opens with heady guitar rips. The song blisters on with stylish reverb. This song shows the ebb and flow of a relationship gone wrong. For a young band they go hard and heavy. The tightness of the band is obvious on “Free Seat”. A smashing mash up of hearty guitar work, steady bass and ripe drumming. The strength lies is the pure rhythmic riffs coupled with slick harmonizing. “Go BACK way BACK to a time we had. Sometimes hindsight is a bitch. Coulda, woulda shoulda. Sometimes it’s easier to look in the rear view mirror then the windshield.
Police sirens open the track “Hurricane”. This song follows the dissolve of a
relationship. She is killing his spirit as she removes herself. They liken it
to a wild storm. Being dumped is like flip flopping along in in the eye of the Hurricane. Who
can't relate to that pain and emotional suffering? The lyrics never go sappy
which is refreshing when it comes to relationships gone wrong songs. They flaunt their crisp emoish
vocals "You were the eye of the storm I was the boat lost at
sea" The oncoming possibility of dangerous disaster the incoming
storm that whips up into a dark hail stem. "Take me back to the start
before we fell apart." The matching anthem like manner of the song winds and
whips with a bevy of slithering guitar sounds coupled with the fast popping on
the skins. This song signifies the calm after the storm. The end of a stormy
relationship can be a relief.
The Inclines are rushing the future with pure possibility for some mainstream radio play.
Next review will be of their brand new EP. Looking forward to that listen. Follow their updates on Facebook and Instagram.
